Privacy Policy

1. Overview

RuralKeep ("the App") is designed to help homeowners and property stewards organize and track maintenance information for private wells, septic systems, water treatment equipment, and related rural-property infrastructure. We believe in privacy by design: your maintenance records belong to you.

2. Information You Provide

When you use RuralKeep, you may choose to enter property and maintenance information to keep track of your systems. This information may include:

• Property names and descriptions
• System and equipment details (such as well depth, pump specifications, septic tank capacity, filter types)
• Maintenance history, service logs, and scheduled dates
• Service-provider names, contact numbers, and notes
• Service costs and maintenance expenses
• Notes, observations, and testing logs
• Optional photo attachments (such as service receipts, equipment labels, or test result sheets)
• Reminder preferences and intervals

3. How Data Is Stored

App maintenance data is stored locally on your device using Apple's local data storage frameworks (SwiftData). Your records remain on your device unless future optional syncing or export features are explicitly initiated by you.

While we leverage Apple's built-in operating system sandboxing and device security protections, no electronic storage system or device can be guaranteed to be absolutely secure against all unforeseen security risks.

4. Accounts

RuralKeep does not require you to create an account, register, or log in with an email address or password. You can use the app immediately upon download without registering personal profile information.

5. Purchases

RuralKeep offers an optional one-time upgrade called RuralKeep Pro. All in-app purchases are processed securely by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit.

RuralKeep does not collect, receive, process, or store your payment card numbers, billing addresses, or banking details. Transactions are handled exclusively by Apple according to Apple's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

6. Photos

RuralKeep allows you to optionally attach photos—such as equipment nameplates, invoices, or water test slips—to maintenance entries. RuralKeep uses Apple's native system photo picker (PhotosPicker). The app only receives access to the specific photo(s) you select and does not request or require broad access to your entire photo library.

7. Notifications

If you choose to set maintenance reminders, RuralKeep schedules local notifications directly on your device. These notifications do not transmit data across external notification servers. You can enable, disable, or adjust notification permissions at any time through your iOS Settings.

8. Analytics and Advertising

RuralKeep currently does not use third-party advertising trackers, cross-site tracking technologies, or third-party analytics SDKs within the application. We do not sell user profiles or monitor your app activity across third-party apps or websites.

9. Location

RuralKeep does not collect, request, or track precise GPS location data for its core functionality.

10. Health / Water Safety

RuralKeep is strictly a maintenance record-keeping and personal reminder utility. It does not analyze, diagnose, or interpret water quality as safe, unsafe, potable, contaminated, or healthy, and does not provide medical, clinical, toxicological, or environmental-health advice. Any water testing logs stored in the app are for user record-keeping only.

11. Data Sharing

RuralKeep does not currently sell user maintenance data, broker personal data, or share records with third parties for marketing or targeted advertising purposes. If you choose to export your records (such as generating a CSV or PDF summary), that export is executed locally under your direct control.

12. Data Deletion

You have full control over your data within RuralKeep. You can delete individual maintenance records, equipment entries, systems, or entire properties directly inside the app using the available management and deletion controls.

Because your records are stored locally on your device, uninstalling or deleting the RuralKeep application from your device will delete all locally stored data and attached images associated with the app.

13. Children

RuralKeep is a general household and property-maintenance utility designed for adult homeowners and property managers. The app is not directed toward children under the age of 13 (or under applicable regional age thresholds), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect updates in app functionality, operating system capabilities, or legal requirements. When updates occur, the revised version will be published on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
